SWORD 39′

The Sword39′ is an offshore cruising yacht, built in Plywood and Balsa / Epoxy, for long, beautiful and fast sailing cruising, in total safety.

Designed at the request of a shipowner with precise specifications, our yacht design office has designed a fast sailing boat, perfectly adapted and equipped for a long-distance cruising, ocean crossing and even round-the-world programmes. The boat is build by Technologie Marine.

Description of SWORD 39′

The boat has been designed for a construction in marine plywood and balsa, fibreglass/Kevlar and epoxy resin. This was done in order to limit the use of moulds but also to combine the solidity of the laminated wooden parts with lightness and therefore performances of composite materials.

Designed for long distance cruising, the boat is very simple in its conception: fixed keel, single rudder for the underwater part, low and streamlined coachroof with real thoughts concerning all ropes paths til the cockpit.

All the ropes from the mast step are carefully guided along the superstructure windows in a dedicated, accessible and elegant space.

The great ingenuity of this ergonomics consists in proposing a height of the cockpit floor very similar to that of the boat’s interior. A single step allows the passage from one to the other, which for a unit of this size, is appreciable and disconcerting.

The aft extension of the cap becomes a real protection for the crew sitting on the forward part of the cockpit, and the helmsman’s visibility is guaranteed by a moderate superstructure height.

Inside, the Sword 39′ limits its layout to two cabins (a 3-cabin version is possible), a large saloon, a galley, a chart table and a shower room.

The Sword 39′ is equipped with a 38hp Lombardini sail drive engine and a powerful running backstay rig to optimise sailing performances. At the end of the bowsprit, a Gennaker will be rigged for downwind sailing.

The boat is equipped with watermaker, hydro generator and solar panels.
