YCC60 Open

The 60′ Open YCC60′ has been designed for a non-stop, single-handed, round-the-world race project of more than 34,000 nautical miles (equivalent to one and a half Vendée Globe).

It is also perfectly suited to racing in IMOCA format for a possible Vendée Globe or Route du Rhum. This boat was built at the Innovation Yachts shipyard based in Les Sables d’Olonnes

Description of YCC60 Open

This yacht was designed by our yacht design office in collaboration with Marion Koch and skipper and project manager Norbert Sedlacek. The construction started in early 2016 in Les Sables d’Olonnes. The boat was launched in the middle of 2018 in order to achieve the feat of circumnavigating the globe via the two poles.

A first departure was given on 29 July 2018 from Les Sables d’Olonnes but off Ireland, Norbert Sedlacek preferred to return back home to finalise few technical details. Since North West Ice Route is only open for 15 days a year, it was then too late to leave. Complications with the COVID-19 meant that the departure dates had to be revised and Norbert will set off in August 2021 with a slightly modified route.
