NEAC

The NEAC project (Autonomous Electric Shuttle on the Canal) is an autonomous maritime or river transport solution, initiated around Caen La Mer, Ports of Normandy, the academics of UNICAEN and ENSI CAEN, the NEAC-INDUSTRY project company and our naval architecture agency.

The objective is to offer a non-polluting, but above all autonomous, mobility service or the benefit of inhabitants and economic river logistics.

Description of NEAC

The first objective of NEAC is to design, develop and test an autonomous electric river shuttle (with hybrid hydrogen propulsion) allowing the transport from 0 to 12 people from one bank of the Caen canal to the other.

In a second phase, the operation of several shuttles in swarms will be studied in order to simulate the flux of shuttles that may be necessary at certain times (transport of people or freight).

The construction of a prototype is underway in order to carry out mobility and autonomy tests of our boat in the Caen canal basin.

The boat has been designed as a multihull in order to provide the best stability and great comfort onboard.
